Lip Blush Aftercare

Aftercare is key to the healing process of your new permanent make-up procedure and the following information must be followed strictly to ensure the best possible result.

If you pick, scratch or rub the area you may cause scarring and you will also be removing the pigment and the colour may not retain in the skin.

Please be aware that if the aftercare advice isn’t followed correctly, you may be liable for further treatment costs.

LIPS AFTERCARE:

Day 1 to 7

  • Immediately after your permanent make-up lip blush if you have any weeping of lymphatic fluid you can blot the lips every hour using a clean tissue.

  • 6 hours after your permanent make-up lip blush, with clean hands and using a clean cotton pad and either cooled down boiled water or the provided Micro Tonic, wipe the lips firmly 3 times per day followed by the aftercare balm provided applied using a clean cotton bud.

  • The aftercare balm can be applied immediately after your permanent make-up lip procedure and as often as needed throughout the day.

  • All drinks should be consumed through a straw for 7 to 14 days or until the lips have healed.

  • Keep the treated area dry. Do not submerge in water, if the lips get wet pat dry – do not rub.

  • Apply the aftercare balm before eating, drinking and brushing teeth.

Day 8 to 14

  • Keep the treated area dry for 14 days or until the area has healed. Do not submerge in water, if the lips get wet pat dry – do not rub.

  • Continue to apply the aftercare balm as often as needed.

  • The lips will be very dry and chapped for up to 14 days, do not pick the area.

  • After 14 days, if the lips are still dry and flaky you can continue to use the aftercare balm as often as needed or until fully healed.

POST PROCEDURE – IMPORTANT INFORMATION

After your permanent cosmetics procedure you may experience some swelling and redness, the area may also feel a little sore or tender, this can last up to 4 days.

  • Keep the treated area clean.

  • Directly after your permanent make-up procedure the treated area is 30-50% darker, the true healed colour will not come through until approximately 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment.

  • The treated area will be slightly itchy and scabbing and flaking is completely normal when the treatment area is healing.

  • Do not use any other products on the treated area apart from the products provided to you.

  • Do not touch the treated area - this can result in infection.

  • Do not pick, rub or scratch the treated area – this can result in scarring, infection and colour loss.

  • No make-up on or near the treated area for 14 days or until fully healed.

  • Keep the treated area dry - no washing or direct running water, if the area does get wet, pat dry - do not rub.

  • Use a very mild facial cleanser and avoid the treated area – remove the cleanser using cotton pads or a muslin cloth.

  • Keep exercise to a minimum for 14 days or until the area has healed to avoid any sweat or dirt entering the treated area.

  • Refrain from using sunbeds or sunbathing for 14 days – even after healing, sunbeds and sunbathing can fade your permanent make-up. If you are going to be in the sun, I would recommend using an SPF factor 30 to 50 on the treated areas or you can also use a lip balm that has SPF protection on brows and lips.

  • The healing process can take up to 28 days for younger adults (under 40 years) and 45 -50 days for older adults (40 years plus).

  • In order to keep your permanent cosmetics in perfect condition it may be necessary to have a maintenance procedure around every 12 to 18 months, though this will vary for each individual.

  • Take care when using moisturisers and other skin products which contain glycolic or fruity acids as these can fade permanent makeup.

  • If you need to have an MRI scan or are planning a chemical peel or any other similar procedure please inform your practitioner that you have had a permanent cosmetics procedure.

  • You may not be eligible to give blood for four months post procedure.

  • If you are planning on having anti-aging injectables or cosmetic surgery remember these procedures can alter the shape of brow, lips and eyeliner.
